National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day is a sacred tradition honoring the fastest to make and most beloved sandwich ever know – peanut butter and jelly. There are more ways to celebrate PBJ Day than just a sandwich.
Here are 15 new and different ways to celebrate the glories of peanut butter and jelly that do not have anything to do with sliced bread.
1- Cupcakes – Peanut Butter and Jelly Style
Make cupcakes with peanut butter as part of the batter. Jelly is the inside surprise. Peanut butter ice cream is the topping for this the delicious little snack. For extra jelly add jelly on top of the ice cream.
2- Monkey Bread with PB&J
Sugar coated jelly filled monkey bread topped with a peanut butter glaze. Make it like regular monkey bread except you layer jelly between the dough pieces before you cook the bread.
3– PB&J Bars
Four layers of scrumptious goodness. A thin dough bottom layer is covered with creamy peanut butter and the jelly. The jelly is topped off with peanut butter cookie crumbs or other bread crumbs. Cut into small squares to avoid gluttons.
4- Ice Cream PB&J Style
This one is simple and simply delicious. Mix peanut butter and frozen bananas in a blender. Blend your choice of jelly into the peanut butter being sure that you do not blend so much that the jelly disappears. You want a jelly layer that shows. Can be eaten as soon as made as a soft ice cream or frozen.
5- Peanut Butter and Jelly Oatmeal
This is a great twist on regular old oatmeal. You need a slow cooker. Slow cook oatmeal (steel cut oats), almond milk, and chia seeds for six hours. Add brown sugar and cinnamon. Then add peanut butter and blend in. Top with your favorite jelly. The treat can be taken anywhere and does not need to be refrigerated.
